When I watched it I didn't really relate them...
Needless is quite a bit more disturbing if you read the manga....
The above image is right after Blade and Arclight fall out of the Simeon building. Apparently the anime ends there, and the manga continues. There actually isn't much of a difference between the two, just the anime ends at chapter 50.
