By the way, they're figurines that sing the famous song.

OK, new clue!

The song she sings is "Watashi no kare wa PAIROTTO" - "My boyfriend is a pilot". It's famous for the catchy "Kyun kyun, kyun kyun". Or at least I think so! ^o^
This is also a mecha show that's on its 25th anniversary!

You sure it's not the movie? I googled that song title and I get 2 Macross results when I did. First one was Macross Frontier (But you said this is from the 80's, so obviously not Frontier) the other result is Macross: Do You Remember Love?

The original song was in the original series, when Minmei sings it for the Miss Macross contest.
You probably got the movie because it's more "popular" than the original series.
I'm currently halfway through the series, and those dolls sing "My Boyfriend is a Pilot" while walking around mechanically. XD The shop guy gets trampled under all the people who wants to buy it. :p

hmm, bunch of slow pokes anyway. :)

Clues:
- The episode this was capped from just got subbed this last week.
- The girl in the picture is a snobby rich kid who's starting to learn what it means to actually have friends as the series progresses.

Heh, now that you mention it, she does look kind of like Miyu doesn't she... but nope, that's not it. Not enough hair. :)

This girl is not the main character, although she's a frequently recurring one, and the main character (a girl with long dark hair) is one of the two friends she's making. Her other new friend is a boy who works at the local bath house. She kind of considers herself a rival with the other girl over the boy's attention.
