Asexual means you do not experience sexual attraction toward others, aromantic means you do not experience romantic attraction towards others.
It is scary thing to do when depressed. Took me about the same amount of time too....

I am technically both. Am asexual and demiromantic. I am aromantic until I establish an emotional connection with a person (Sometimes that can randomly show up after years. Or sometimes as little as a month). It's not truly aromantic, but it's on the spectrum.
