Troubles with playing the subs

Greetings all,

It seems I keep on having troubles with playing the episodes and showing the subtitles. On my normal 'windooz' pc all is fine with the mplayer I use there.
The problem is my mac, or so it seems.

At this moment I'm stuck with VLC (which I don't really like that much).
I'd rather have my MplayerOSX to run the serie, but it seems that ffdshow (windooz thing to play encodes 'n stuff) doesn't run on the mac, forcing me to use an other program. If anyone has any fix to this, please tell me so I can dump VLC!!

Each and every time I want to play the serie, I have to manually enable the subtitles by selecting the track in VLC:

Not only that... It seems VLC has the habit of selecting its own custom subtitle font, rather then going to the one thats encoded in the release itself.

Anyone got any idea how I can automate this? I'm not that well oiled yet to actually repeat all the steps each and every time I want to watch anime (in school ). It usually takes me several minutes to realize I'm watching anime without subtitles ...talk about being slow

There's no subtitle font encoded in the release, softsubs are always dependent on the program running them. Softsubs just directly tell the player "OK, show this text here", and the player does so in whatever font it's programmed with.

If the sub is encoded is ass format, then there is not much hope. The official implementation only runs on windows

Ahh... that's what it is... Is that way people also add srt files into their encodes along side .ass files...? if so, I guess we shall have to do that also.

Indeed, don't forget about the notes. Was watching the unreleased JE04 ep and found out that it still had the japanese text between {}'s in the translation. Though I must add that it only shows them under VLC, on my mac.

I didn't Mux this episode, Scar did i believe. Didnt he have the chapters, so i think he muxed it, i dont remember.

But even if i did. I'm pretty sure i muxed the script and fonts. ^^;;

Kevin, you muxed everything except the chapters...

the only problem here is that Macs and anything other than Windows cannot play ASS files correctly... so we need to do srt files, I guess... and that takes out all fades and such
