you're right, in /most/ cases there's only one way to pronounce a character, but i hear that it's far more common than we'd like to make out that there are. and yes, the grammar is much simpler (but there's a really crazy way to order thoughts at times!). furigana exists in adult's books...

this is what i would say if the speaker's female: 本のあたしは誰なんか、あなたには分かんないよ...いつだって分かんないもん... it's literally: "you don't know who the real me is...you'll never know...", but i feel that it comes across as what you want. i wouldn't put "kimi" because it sounds too lovey-dovey, and i'm imagining...
