One thing annoyed me when I played that game: Yuka, one of the strongest inhabitants of Gensokyo (I think only Sukia (and maybe Yuugi) are stronger), is unable to learn Strength...

If you want to get a Reimu, you can also just go to Route 4 and catch a CReimu. Also, if you keep it a chibi until lvl 23, it learns Miko Charity faster. That skill is another proof for the theory: IF there´s ANY donations in the donation box of the Hakurei Shrine, it was the miko herself xP

Isopropyl alcohol is often used for cleaning electrics (the contacts in this case) - I didn´t say anything about getting it near the chip. (But yeah, one must be cautions when using it (Use only in well-ventilated placeses))
