Winter Jog

It was when the water froze and snow covered everything that Tomoki decided to take a jog to the beach. With a heavy coat embalming his body and the warnings to come home soon ringing in his ears, Tomoki patted his way into the snow and inhaled the winter air. The chill brushed through his throat like ice cream and made him puff out a white cloud. Sighing in satisfaction, Tomoki turned and began jogging.

He paced through the white covered streets, taking in even breaths as the cold wind numbed his exposed face. His heart pounded beat harder and faster, spreading the freezing oxygen through his body and sustaining him longer. Tomoki felt the warmth spread through his veins and force heat through his skin. The cold air around his coat seeped in, mixing with his own body temperature and making Tomoki feel like the Earth's atmosphere was brushing against his skin.

After a while, his muscles began to ache and a clutching pain formed in his chest, but Tomoki didn't back down. By the time he finally reached the beach, he had spent his energy. He bent down to regain his breath as the heat in his coat bade out sweat and when he regained his strength, he straightened up.

To Tomoki, the sight was breathtaking. Pure white covered the sand and mixed with the waves. The sun's rays rained down and made the half-frozen ocean and snow glitter like diamonds. Tomoki gazed out with awed expression and breathed in the winter atmosphere with relief. A whistle alerted him to a friend's presence and he turned to find Takuya, pumping his legs expectantly while remaining stationary. Tomoki smiled.

It was when the water froze and snow covered everything that Tomoki decided to jog with Takuya back home.
