Here's the deal: China overdid the EXPO. EXPO, if I am correct (I might not), should be individual companies, yet China was getting COUNTRIES involved. :/ Like literally, bribing countries, paying them to come when they have nothing to do with the usual EXPO stuffs.

Plus, EXPO is like any convention. If you got an acute interest, you're going no matter what. But other than that, the other visitors tend to be people who are within a certain radius of the location.

And the "local", nearby people make up the bulk of the numbers that go. China has a lot of people within a close range of the location. Plus, China made such a big deal about it, more people in China know about it. Compared to other expos, it is no wonder the Shanghai one broke records.

The number of the people who will always go is basically a constant at this point. However, the "local" people who just go for the sake of going is the variable. And for China, that number is huge compared to elsewhere.

And srsly, the first week of the Shanghai EXPO, the news was buzzing about it, but since then, I've been like hearing nothing about it in the news.

And, when I say news, I mean the Chinese news... since the only TV channels I have is freakin' CCTV-4 and CCTV-9 and some odd Taiwan channel. :< (Lack of cable and the OTA conversion to digital plus living in a forest where it's near impossible to get a viable digital ota signal has basically left three channels on the TV.)

But in news elsewhere, we hear about it, but it isn't mainstream news unless something REALLY big happens. China... just overdoes things the Chinese way.

Futamaru... Well, Greg told me that he is a Chinese, but there are some Chinese who live in foreign country like Zodiac and Complex Mind.
Futa lives in Malaysia, if I recall correctly. So technically, he also lives in a "foreign country like Zodiac and Complex Mind".

You know, there is a saying in Shanghai cililian. It is said that if you don't go to visit EXPO, it's a pity. If you go to there, you will find out you regret to go there.

I have visited already. That day, there was 400,000 visitors. I have a rule like: I don't want to go to anywhere which I should wait over an hour.

400,000... That is a lot of people just by the way. The town I live in has a population of around 100,000 (including the temporarily residing students).

1 million people in one day. That is half of the statistical area population of Indianapolis, the largest city in the state I live in! :/

Due to I am too busy this year, I missed to watch World Cup match. I am quite interested in football (American call it as "soccer"), but study is more important, there was an examination in the end of June which was a hell problem. Unexpected to me, the final match was between Spain and Holland, the two country had never won World Cup before. There was a saying that there are 4 teams from South America in quanter final, World Cup would be belonged one of them. But all the 4 teams were out and the 3 Europe team got the first, second and third place.

The World Cup is a big enough event that Americans know what you're talking about even if you say football instead of soccer. People aren't stupid enough to mix American football together with the World Cup... hopefully. o_o

I watched American Soccer League as well. I found out that American dislike draw game. If the match is draw in 90 minutes, there will be a funny game like "start to keep the ball and shot in 6 seconds, the player versus the goal keeper." There are 5 rounds, more goals win. But the winner could only earn 0ne point but not three points.
