vBulletin VS Other Free forums

I just wonder what is different between vBulletin and another free forum like

-myBB
-SMF

I just try to look at vBulletin admin CP also and it is great. Is that the reason you have to paid vBulletin?

(Also some plugins,mods you have to buy it also T_T)

But I prefer myBB because it's open source and it's free.

vB is one of the most secure, in my opinion. I've been cracked on a myBB - it is unbelievably easy to get admin control in it. Therefore, I refuse to ever use it again.

In my opinion, SMF is really ugly.

vB is worth the money if you have it, but if you don't, it's really a matter of choice. SMF is getting old, but it's still okay. MyBB has a new version coming out that is supposed to be comparable to vB 3.6. phpBB3 is pretty good on the user end, I haven't explored the AdminCP much at all, though.

So really, it's up to choice on what you want.

phpbb is far uglier to me than SMF. And yes, I've been on a myBB that was hacked. myBB has no security.

But yeah, vB is really worth the dough.

Functionality: vB > SMF > phpBB 3 > phpBB 2
HTML Compliance: phpBB3 FTW!

That's what I have in my head right now, haven't been keeping up.
