for all we know there is more proof in RnR 2 we arnt noticing because it is still in Japanese. Example before EXE 6 came out i completed it on my emulator in japanese, no one in any of the forums i went to knew what the ending meant until the english version came out (which of course included that Lan ended up with Mayl).
