OH MY GOSH, THAT'S SOOOO CUTE! Laharl prinny for the win! <3

Okay, in that case... TAKE THIS!

MageandPrinny.jpg

In other news, I LOOOOVE the rozenqueen shop! I preordered Mana Khemia 2 from them, and IF they make a Disgaea 2 DS, I'm SO getting it!

Of course, if they DON'T, then I'll just get it for my PSP Go... once I get my PSP Go...

Damn, as soon as I get the internet back at my house I'm saving some of these pictures :)

<3 mages

With Rosenqueen I really want to preorder Phantom Brave on the wii myself, unfortunatley living in europe I can only get games for consoles that are region free (PS3, PSP & DS) :(

I'll just have to wait. In the mean time though...

There is no Banhammer in Disgaea (unless there's one in 3, dunno, never played it).

There is none, but you can "make" one (at least in Disgaea 2):
Take any Hammer, go into it´s item world until you reach an innocent village (the village must have an item assembly). Talk to him (the item assembly chicken) and choose any of your characters, then choose "I want to change the item name" and type "Banhammer". The weapon will be named "Banhammer" (no other effects)
Yes, it´s just for fun, so please don´t hit me ^^"""

Ah, I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THAT! Except... there are no HAMMERS in disgaea, either... there's axes and staves, so you'll have to figure out which one has the best sprite for the job... Preferably, it'd be an axe... If I can find one, I've SO got to do that!

No Hammers in D2? Then what are Hammer, Heavy Hammer and Holy Hammer? Okay, they count as axes, but they have hammer sprites! (Morning Star counts as axe too, but it´s a mace)

I'm not a big user of Axes, I must admit. Thanks for letting me know about those hammer sprites, though. But still, they are AXES by game data, not actually Hammers...

Now, if they make a D4 (please do) and separate axes and hammers, the Banhammer should SO be the Infinity Plus One Hammer...

Haha there was a thread on another site not to long ago were people took a weapon with a description that could be taken waaaay out of context and changed the name apropriatley :p

unfortunatley I can't remember any examples, off the top of my head :(

Heres another image for ya, not so much cute but I always thought was cool and really well drawn. Sorry I have run out of images until I get my internet sorted. HOWEVER... Look at the prinny in the bottom right corner :p

That's not a closeup, that's a crop!

Anyway, on a scale of 1 to 10, how much would you recommend me to play Disgaea?

I don´t really use Axes aswell, that´s why I don´t know every axe... No problem~ Oh and Earth Quacker (Axe rank 28, looks like a hammer aswell) seems to be better for the "Banhammer" (because of the higher atk) job (Hm... I really need to check the 12 higher ranked axes too...)

Apparently, D3 made axes not suck as bad, giving a speed penalty instead of a hit penalty... Meaning you can actually LAND your attacks now...

Curses foiled again... also on that scale I would give Disgaea a 10 out of 10 on the must play list.

Actually in all seriousness it's much simpler than that.

If you like SRPGS then its a definite must.

If you don't then you should pass on it

If you have never played an SRPG before and would like to try one then I would say Disgaea is one of the best places to start. It's easy for beginners, it is very in depth for veterans and everyone loves it's style of humor.

yup axes are awesome in D3, I have a few characters wielding them actually.

Alot of things have been tweaked besides that actually, its a very balanced game compared to the other two (although annoyingly Majins have been nerved and Heavy Knights are still useless).

EDIT: BTW I have internet back so to celebrate I share this calender with you.

Funny fact the calender starts from last year and goes up to march 2010 lol funny calender :p

Eh? But aren't Majins supposed to be broken in all areas except throwing? Why nerf them?

Beats me, they are still great to keep around as a template if your going reincarnate one as a different class though. Basically they have really high aptitudes but not so nice stats.

Aptitudes play a much bigger part in character growth than it did in previous games since you can now level it up through the new class world system.

I've actually been curious as to how they work... I've heard that they changed how leveling up weapon proficiency works...

How class world works? well imagine the item world except you go inside your characters instead ;)

TUTORIAL MODE:

There are 10 floors, as soon as you enter you select how you want to upgrade the character e.g. new skill, improved critical rate, new evility, extra movement space etc. After you select that proceed through class world as you would the normal item world as far as floor 10.

On the way you might meet a "drop out" or a few, it's the class world version of an innocent. it is a perfect clone of the character you are in, killing it will add a few more points on your characters aptitude once you finish class world.

The only way on how you can use this to upgrade weapons is that you can steal a copied item from a drop out as well, with a special weapon called a puppy paw stick. Then move the innocents making weapon leveling a lot easier.

Anyway on floor 9 just before the boss you enter a secret room and proceed to pay for the upgrade you selected at the start (requires mana, also mana cost may go down depending on how you played the previous levels). After beating the boss and class world your characters aptitudes increase depending on how many floors you beat, how many drop outs you killed, how strong the enemies were and what level the boss was.

You can do this 1 - 3 times per character incarnation (depending on the skill level you made them e.g. genius is 3, normal is 2, good for nothing is 1). Some upgrades can only be done a number of times but you can learn as many new skills as you want.

This replaces the old mentor / apprentice system btw so you will need to do this to pass magic around to other characters. The reason this is here though is most characters can't learn all the weapon skills anymore so it's also useful to pass them around.

...Not quite what I was referring to (I think). I mean, you know how in D1 and D2, how the more you use and level up your proficiency in a weapon, the more of a bonus you got to that weapon? Like at Sword Level 133 vs Spear Level 0, you'll get like 200%(ish) of the sword's stats, and a mere 100% of the spear's?

I had heard that they just swapped everything so that it works like Armor/Monster weapons did, so that higher level = higher stat gains, and that affinity just has to do with how much it costs to learn skills and/or how many you can get...

Also... do they still have all the spells?
