Small Question i liked to ask my friends

I have one related to philosophy question. I wish, some of my friends here will reply it. I liked to ask my real friend about that.

You're President of USA and have power. Someone gave You an (true with proofs) information - whole Africa continent will be destroyed after a week. After a week Africa will be only a History. What You will do? Do You will try to rescue how many how possible peoples from that continent or You will be "surprised" when TV will show that sad information?

I'd find out exactly how it is to be destroyed, if a natural disaster get as many people out as humanly possible (making sure Mugabe is killed in the process for what he's done).

If by other means. - find a way to stop it.

This is rather sick though Nemo...

I wouldn't even want to think about it. Africa already has a lot of trouble on their hands, not to mention the entire world with global warming, rainforest chopping, poverty, disease, war and stuff. I don't want to think of things getting worse.
If I was president, sure I'd want to help, but the resources, abilities, costs, the actual control and the successfulness, I doubt I would be able to control of that. A president wouldn't be president without the people around them, and some with different opinions. And the people in Africa too. Many might not want to leave the place where they were born and raised. Do you know how scary it is to come into a new country, to drop everything and leave the old behind? It may be easy to say, but not easy to do. Thinking idealistically may be easier but impossible to fulfill, but something to guide you as you think realistically.
Also think of the consequences. EVERYONE will suffer. There'll be a lack of resources, sky-high prices, resulting with high priced food for the demanding population who does not have the money... I could go on, but just think. Why bother asking if there is basically a 0 chance of it happening. This isn't even philosophical. Go open a Sufism book or something like I do if you want philosophy.
Let's just hope this never even happens in the first place, nor am the person to handle these kinds of things and neither am I a God.
We can waste our whole lives asking "what if" questions and never experience it. What matters is the problem at hand, and ignoring it wouldn't do any good.

I know i'm not exactly a friend but here's my view anyway :-p

I personally would declare publicly what was going to happen but not do act like I police the world, I would try to sort out some kind of worldwide treaty in which everyone does a little bit and takes as many people as its individual economy could support so that as many people could be saved as possible while trying to prevent and kind of economical meltdown afterwards that might occur if I tried to put too many eggs into one basket as it were.

I love You Magna. Unfortunately, You're to young for meh. Well, maybe after 5 years...

Ekhmmm, anyway.. I'll say, why i like that question. As most of You probably know, for meh is that second, surprise, option. Why?
Whenever i'm asking, everyone is telling, "I will help!". That's automatical action, we must help. But no one will think, how to do that, what will be a cost of that, what rescured people will do in their "new" houses, from what they will live? Goverment will give a job to all of them? Also i said Africa not by mistake. You already readed my minds, along from the other continents, Africa is in that bad situation, it has many diseases, mostly peoples will not want to move somewhere else. Also some countries will not belive You, because they haven't a reason for doing that.

I asked many peoples about that. You're the second one, who was agree with me, before i said my reasons. Only one other my friend, somehow philosopher as me, was thinking about both sides of that coin - how to help them and which consequences will be after doing that. And he said, better for entire world will be, if Africa will die. But remember, Africa is only AN EXAMPLE and if that will be America or Europe, that doesn't matter.

Thanks again, Magna. You're the second, who understand me.

I'm really sorry, but that is just plain sad :-(
Then your friend has no clue how many resources are being extracted from there that we take everyday for granted. If Africa is gone, what'll happen to Intel computers and stuff? ;___;

But that Africa will be gone regardless, if we help them or not. He was thinking about dying Africa only as a part of that question. That loss will be big and entire world will feel it but if we cannot help much, we should do nothing. Or something to change costs to minimum.
