It actually returned a few hours ago, but I have an answer to why it died:

We ran out of RAM. We simply choked the machine.

But yeah, we're back up now, and I'm going to set up a donation goal sooner than later, for about $200, to buy a new harddrive for the server, and to upgrade the RAM.

So yeah...

RAM still isn't really that cheap yet... it costs about $1 for 10 MB, I believe. $200 should be enough for two servers.

This would explain why the server has a very heavy load at times, it would be heavily swapping.

Yes, it would probably be the server not responding to the first button press and having multiple instances of the same command in a backlog.
