Ok, according to Davis Motomiya's Wikipedia article...

On August 3rd, 1999, Davis was among the kids captured by Myotismon's minions. As a result, he became a DigiDestined three years later.

Was there an episode in Adventure 02 that mentioned this?

I sort of remember that there was one...but I don't remember which episode it was.

I probably should ask more when the time comes...

It does mention it yes, can't remember the episode off hand but it's definate. Miyako is because of the Diaboromon incident on the net, Iori is due to the plane thing (he was on the plane that Kuwagamon clipped the wing causing it to freeze)

I don't remember 02 anime very much, but it was mentioned in the Original Story drama.

It was the episode that Yolei (Miyako, I use dub names for 02) got the digimental/egg of sincerity, because they were asking how Michael became a digidestined...episode 14.
