does one always need "ka" at the end to ask questions in Japanese?

is it possible to ask questions in Japanese without adding "ka" at the end and instead just using rising intonation like in English? for example saying "ikimashou?" rather than "ikimashouka?" ?

also, what is this place? what are these forums actually for? i just wound up here Googling this question, and have no idea where i am lol.

Hi, this is the forum of a now-defunct anime fansub slash manga scanlation group. Very few people still are here, but hello there.

Uhm, generally, the "ka" is there to signify questions, but there are certain times where the rising intonation will work. I wouldn't say it's a universal thing you can do. "Ka" is a more safer way.
