Nan, Henry, and Kim arrive at the first-floor landing. Anderson is here, keeping watch. He is armed. Nan asks Henry if he saw what she did. He replies that he thought he saw Kim in the furnace, but now it's clear that's impossible. On the other hand, he says plenty of what they've seen...

Nan leaves the boiler room with Kim and Henry.

Nan leaves the flashlight off. After staring at the fire, it takes a moment for her vision to readjust to the dim boiler room.

The furnace dies, leaving nothing. Not even ashes. The boiler room grows dark and cold.

The furnace shuts off.

Nan calls for help. Henry and Kim grab her by the shoulders and drag her away. The grip on her arm is broken.

Nan continues to pull, but the counter-pull is stronger. Something is wrong.

The hand is still pulling.

>"What's going on? I heard screaming!"

Nan and Kim grab each other by the wrist and pull. She's stuck. They pull harder.
