Hey there everyone.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I was planning on setting up a donation goal for more RAM, and a new harddrive.

Well, I did.

We're looking for $119 for each, which will include the installation and free replacements if they ever go bad.

I've put the Clickers at the top of the Portal main page, and also used the Notices feature on the forums. (First time ever... wow xD) The RAM one is also on Wikimon, since that uses a good portion of our resources as well. (You can see a bit of an explanation on Wikimon)

Assuming these goals are met in a timely fashion, we will be able to keep Wikimon on MediaWiki, and also possibly add new direct download options. However, with the server as it is now... those can't happen.

I'm also going to start adding a monthly one to the donate page.

Thanks for understanding, and special thanks to those that donate :)

I would appreciate if people didn't turn this into a "WE DON'T WANT ADS." or "TURN THEM OFF." thread, as it's stuff that we actually need to keep running smoothly.

It shows up correctly in the ChipIn dashboard thing, and I got it, so don't worry. :)

k, i just wanted to make the point that there's a place that sells 500 gig external hardrives for 110 bucks. if you want me to buy one, and then send it to greg or whoever, then let me know.

(But I'd totally go for it if you wanted me to buy me a new hdd :D)

The only reason I can't donate is because I don't have a PayPal account and can't get one until I turn 18, about 3 years later, give 2 to 4 months. (Or, if you don't know which direction "give" puts it in, 3 years and 3 months, give or take a month.)

Otherwise, I'd put my $10 in. :D

I'll donate $20 to each, seeing as I have a bit of spare money and that Wikimon and DATS are both sites that I would miss. Good luck with raising enough.

just out of curiosity, what brand and make of harddrive are you getting. $120 is kind of a lot for only 200 gigs.

This is a server harddrive, not a computer harddrive.

Two different things :p

I'm not sure what we're getting for the brand of harddrive... but it's the price that the server provider charges.

It does seem high, yes, but it also covers for free replacement at any time if the hardware poops out on us.
